I am a senior engineer in Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. I aim at the optimizer of database system kernal, which attempts to determine the most efficient way to execute given queries with a set of algorithms and analyses of data, distribution, execution methods, hardware system, etc.

I got my Ph.D. degree in Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISCAS) in 2016, and under supervision of professor Feng Tian. During the Ph.D. study, my research interests are physiological computing, wearable computing and new interaction devices and technology for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Mixed Reality (MR). In 2011, I got my bachelor's degree in Beihang University (BUAA), and my major is computer science.

I interned in Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA) with Xiang Cao and Human-Computer Interaction Group during the second year of my Ph.D. to work on prototypes of interaction hardware and software. And also interned in Tsinghua University with professor Yuanchun Shi to begin the exploration on HCI. What's more, I interned in Mobile and Cloud Computing Department of Baidu, State Key Laboratory of Software Development Environment in Beihang University, and worked as web development engineer at Department of Student Affairs in Beihang University.

PROJECTS

  • Human-Computer Interaction and Mixed Reality
  • LifeLog: Interactive Story of Your Looking Back
A new generation of 3D mobile eye-tracking system was designed and developed including its hardware and software to explore eye-movements based life logging. Within infrared sensors to capture reflected infrared light from people’s eyeball, a machine learning model to recognize gazing direction and a head-mounted Kinect to capture 3D environment, we could get coordinates where people focused and how their gazing point moved. What's more, we also presented a calibration method in 3D environment for 3D eye-tracker to extern 2D eye-movement tracking into 3D mobile environment. Base on eye-movement features, e.g. fixation, saccades, and smooth pursuits, we could mark life stories for future looking back.
  • Pactolus: A Method for Mid-Air Gesture Segmentation within EMG
Pactolus, a method for mid-air gesture segmentation and recognition within physiological computing. Mid-air gesture in human-computer interaction system remains to be a challenge because of inability to separate intentional command gestures from unintentional movements, also called the Midas Problem. In this project, features of EMG signals from muscles of upper limb are used to characterize meaningful gesture segments’ start and end points. The effectiveness of this mid-air gesture segmentation method is validated. Base on this, a start point based hierarchical gesture recognition method is explored, and a serial of gesture pre-recognitions are applied before user finish performing the whole gesture. Interactive system could generate the target interaction logic and task ahead. More importantly, enhance the user experience.
  • UbiSpoon: Pervasive Monitoring of Nervous System Diseases through Daily Life
UbiSpoon, a system for motor functions assessment of nervous system diseases through daily life tasks. Nervous system diseases have high incidence, and short therapeutic window. However, the existing diagnostic method mostly depends on empirical and qualitative judgment after abnormalities are found though body functionality and medical imaging. In this project, we explore the blueprint of quantitative assessment in daily life within clinical scale. A sensor integrated "Spoon-bowl" system is used to capture upper limb motions in daily life, and motion segmentation and modeling are applied, then motor function is assessed and also nervous system diseases monitoring and early warning is tried to establish.
  • CamSpO2: Analysis of Oxygen Saturation Detection Method on Intelligent Mobile Devices
CamSpO2, an oxygen saturation detection method on smart mobile devices. With the fast development of smart mobile devices and great concern on health surveillance, it is becoming increasingly popular to monitoring people's health condition by using smart mobile devices in their daily life. In this project, we detect oxygen saturation within unmodified smart mobile devices to achieve a new non-invasive physiological information acquisition technology, which overcome the shortcomings of the smart mobile device sensors, and compensate raw data with models and algorithms.
  • PhysiolComp: Analysis and Design for a Physiological Computing Based Human-Computer Interaction Toolkit
PhysiolComp, a physiological computing based interactive platform. There are more and more physiological computing based interactive applications, but mostly loose, lack of a unified and adaptable integrated platform. This cause high learning and development costs for researchers. In this project, a comprehensive physiological computing based interactive toolkit and platform is analyzed and designed. Forming a set of physiological information processing and analysis module, which contain complex and professional physiological computing logic and algorithms inside. With the toolkit and platform, researchers can quickly map physiological information to interaction tasks, and design and development applications easily.
  • EGON: a set of physiological information acquisition hardware
EGON, a set of physiological information acquisition hardware prototypes for human-computer interaction field. Most of traditional physiological computing devices are large and professional, which could not meet the application requirements of human-computer interaction. In this project, we design and implement highly integrated and user-friendly novel physiological computing hardware prototypes. We also explore approaches to combine physiological computing sensors with traditional human-computer interaction devices, which acquire physiological information when users use them. EGON set the foundation for rich interactive technologies and applications.
